Heidi & Jason... got married!

What a great party! Our sweet Heidi married Jason at Taharaa Mountain Lodge and wow did they have a great event. The resort was beautiful and even a little threatening rain couldn't keep this family from the party. Heidi & Jason were so adorable and so excited. I loved the way the whole day was a celebration of love and family. Part of their family tradition has always been a belly dancer and it was the most amazing way to start off the celebration.

Congratulations! and much joy now and always!

Kelsey & Scott... got married!

What an amazing day! Yes, it was hot, but it was almost hard to notice in the presence of this incredibly beautiful, joyful, loving family. Kelsey & Scott's details were amazing... pies that they love in lieu of cakes, super cute Rainbow Sandals on the bridal party, Kelsey's stunning dress from Anna Be, and of course her Sara Gabriel veil. But it was faith and love of family that eclipsed all else.

Kelsey & Scott's journey together starts with the most amazing grace. Jodie & I both felt so very fortunate to be there to photograph the next step in their journey together. Congratulations and much joy to you both. Now and always.

Amy & Dan... got married!

I don't think I have ever seen a more beautifully diverse, kid-filled wedding! Amy & Dan's day was just absolutely beautiful. Amy's youngest son even crashed out in their room at The Oxford Hotel while everyone was getting ready so he got his nap too. And Amy & Dan sneaking into their honeymoon suite are some of my favorite photos ever. They're so in love they're like little kids too!

Thanks so much for inviting me to be there to photograph! And congratulations!

Heidi & Jason are getting married...

Just over a week until Heidi & Jason tie the knot! You may recognize Heidi as our own Fox 31 Good Day Colorado morning news anchor. She's been updating us all on the wedding plans during the Monday morning newscasts with a little help from Jessica Adler of JA Special Events. Jessica was my wedding planner in 2005 and such a godsend! I'm so excited to be working with her on the other side to photograph Heidi & Jason's beautiful day.

And I've got to tell you, Heidi is probably the nicest person I have ever met! There's been much build up to her gorgeous dress and I just can't wait to photograph her in it. Jason's a lucky guy, but I'm pretty sure he already knows that...

Keep an eye on Heidi's blog for updates on her wedding planning. And be sure to tune in Monday morning July 30th to Good Day Colorado for a sneak peek at the wedding photos.

Congratulations Heidi & Jason! We can't wait to be there to photograph your wedding!

Mary & Jon... got married!

On the most beautiful mountain day, Mary & Jon got married. I love this family! It was a full evening of laughter and tears at the lovely The Meadows at Marshdale. And don't get me started on Mary's gorgeous champagne gown...

My Dearest Joyce

One of my dearest friends recently celebrated her eightieth birthday not with a party for herself but with what she called a Celebration of Friendship. It was just one of so very many things that my 'grandma' Joyce has taught me over the course of my life. She shared memories and photos of all of us. When she asked me what memory I would like to share, I answered honestly that there hasn't been a memory in my life that she wasn't part of. Including tears. All of us knew that if we ever needed to Joyce was there tissue box in hand. So of course we had to finish the luncheon with... tissues in hand.

My Dearest Joyce,

Thank you for being the gift of every day of my life. Thank you for always believing in me. Thank you for sharing every hill and valley. Thank you for being part of my journey and letting me be part of yours.

All my love. Always,

We're officially NYC insiders!

I love chocolate. I mean really, really love chocolate. The only thing I love more is my husband. Maybe...

Tmaison_du_chocolatjpg_2

So every time we're in New York we go to La Maison du Chocolat. And if we're not there together, my sweet man will bring home Salvadors, my favorite kind. This week he's there without me and stopped to get the freshest chocolates possible to bring home tomorrow. Well, they didn't have enough to fill the little box and are getting more early tomorrow. Since he's leaving on one of the first flights out in the morning they are opening early to let him in to get my chocolates! We're officially regulars. I feel like I'm a character in The Devil Wears Prada...

(And I should mention my west coast favorite... Recchiuti in the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Love it!)

Love of My Life...

Pity the life of a photographer's family. It's true. Children, spouses, dogs, cats, parents... they are forever subjected to the whims of our cameras. The problem is that it's usually in the service of testing new equipment or ideas. As we sat on the back patio last evening enjoying the last day of what was for both of us a well-deserved mini break, I realized it was a moment I wanted to keep.

Too often I forget to make the same photographs for myself that I have so much fun making for my clients. To that end, my darling man found himself dragged from a pleasant Sunday evening glass of wine to an impromptu portrait session. If you know him, you know that he is always perfectly pressed, immaculate in every way. I love these photos because they are the weekend version that is so special to me. Even if I did get the hand after just a few minutes...

Kelly & John... got married!

Kelly & John have been so much fun to get to know. I don't think I've ever known anyone so giddy about getting married. Even the planning didn't phase them. Their wedding at the University of Denver's Evans Memorial Chapel was the most wonderful, family and friend filled, a lot of laughter and few tears, beautiful afternoon...
