Kelly & Mike are getting married...

I think I like my job too much. I can't believe that I get to spend my time with people so in love. Pity my sweet husband... I am a constant romantic sap. Thank heavens for his wit and cynicism to keep me from devolving into a romance novel reading, Lifetime watching, lace curtain old lady. For now I'll stick with chocolate and high heels.

My magical afternoon with Kelly & Mike made me even more sappy. (If that's possible.) They are so beautifully open in their complete adoration of each other that it's like a contagious glow. We played around in the old part of downtown Littleton on a lovely afternoon with gorgeous light. We also owe a special thanks to Old Glory Antiques and Lido Wine Merchants for letting us come in to play. The 'say yes' flash cards were Mike's brilliant idea. And I looove how steamy the photos of them making out in the wine store got!

I can't wait for September in the Garden of the Gods!

Amanda & Brady are getting married...

Snow! Boy did we have snow. I felt so lucky to be scheduled on a day when it was really coming down. And somehow the weather outside made it feel even cozier inside the little house that Amanda & Brady are renovating. It reminded me of the love nest that my grandfather built for my grandmother during the first year that they were secretly married during the Depression. Grandma Dot told us about the 'house that Grant built' every time we drove past...

And in Brady's case he's got mad skills! Amanda & Brady met while working for Habitat for Humanity so we had to do their engagement session at a house site. Where better than what will be there own! I'm so tickled that they'll have photos of the bones of their new home before it gets all finished and gorgeous.

Congratulations! And I can't wait to see the house all finished...

Gia & Michael are getting married...

I just love engagement photos. It's such a terrific way to get to know your photographer and get comfortable in front of the camera. Of course, I think Gia & Michael were born comfortable in front of the camera!

Gia competes prize winning hunter/jumpers (including several ribbons for Sea Side at the latest National Western Stock Show). I was so very fortunate to be invited out to the barn to make their engagement photos. Oh how I loooove horses! We just couldn't have had more fun. We even climbed up on the hay bales, which I used to get in sooo much trouble for when I was a kid.

Thanks for an amazing time! See you in Beaver Creek!

Ashley & Brian are getting married...

Feet in the sand. Doesn't look like it does it?

I love it when a couple knows exactly what they want. For Ashley & Brian's wedding they are very clear. Feet in the sand. And that's where we'll be next July for their fabulous Malibu wedding. Given the frigid weather of late here in Colorado I can't wait!

But their love story is here in downtown Denver where Bentley (the most wonderful dog ever!) gets his walks. So in extreme contrast to their wedding plans we headed out into the cold and had soooo much fun! I think Ashley & Brian and I might have stayed out even longer, but thankfully we had Bentley to announce to us that he was a bit chilled and well past ready to be done. He was right. And chill or not, I love these photos!

Congratulations! I can't wait to photograph for you on the beach...

Samantha & Andrew are getting married...

Cold, cold, cold it was in Iowa... and Samantha & Andrew are so adorable together I probably would have stayed out photographing all day! They were such troopers as we explored the Czech Village in Cedar Rapids. We found the coolest little house all overgrown with ivy, even the door, and we found a bandstand and a great rusted metal shed. We couldn't find much to get warm indoors but they were so giggly and schmoopie outside that I'm not sure how much they noticed the cold.

(And for the photogs reading the blog, check out the tilt and shift lens on the bandstand shots! Sooooo much fun.)

Lilly & Xerxes are getting married...

I hiked. Yes, me, the adamantly sedentary soul that I am. I hiked. Only Lilly & Xerxes could have gotten this out of me. I love doing engagement sessions at locations that are important to the couple and hiking the mesa is one of their favorite things. It was so worth it! Gorgeous light, so in love, and Lilly packed a picnic.

Of course, the other reason it was so worthwhile is that they treated me to apple pastries after we hiked back down. Lilly is the most magnificent personal chef and I could probably be induced to all kinds of craziness if I knew her cooking was waiting on the other side...

Katie & Evan are getting married...

It's official. I really do love my job too much! I had the best time photographing for Katie & Evan. They are so incredibly, adorably in love. And they were game for anything even as the temperature dropped at least ten degrees and the storm bore in on us. No worries about weather for the wedding... they're off to Mexico!

Stephanie & Pete are getting married...

Stephanie & Pete's world is all about... Jesse & Tucker. Who are hilarious! I have never met dogs with more energy. Tucker actually runs on a treadmill. They were in everything and I can't imagine what their car must have smelled like on the way home. But we got some great shots!

(Oh, and Stephanie & Pete are getting married! Look out Allie's Cabin! Actually, the dogs are staying home. Congratulations!)

Gentry & Dave are getting married...

Wow! What a weekend! We were in balmy Amarillo, Texas for a rainy Friday and gorgeous Saturday wedding. After the most perfect drive ever through Colorado and New Mexico we rolled into Texas for family, friends, and a lot of photography. We discovered that Gentry is actually a distant relative and I can't think of anything cooler than being related to this super sweet family.

Friday started very early with Gentry & Dave's engagement portraits. They started innocent. Honest they did. They're just so in love and happy and, well, they turned into some of my favorite steamy photos. Trouble was we were in the church courtyard...

There were three more shoots while we were in Amarillo, including their beautiful ranch wedding and some unbelievably cool bridal portraits. Stay tuned for more...

The Sunflower Sessions...

The sunflowers are back! And I'm just too excited to stand it. They are just fabulous for portraits! The sunflowers are great for brides, engagements, families, high school seniors... Let your imagination roam!

So, in honor of the sunflowers being in bloom, I'm opening up two more last minute 'Sunflower Sessions.'

Update: The sunflower sessions are booked for this year. Tune in next summer for what promises to be an annual event...
