Corny

I love the Corn Maze. I just think it's really cool and if you haven't been you gotta go during the last few weeks it's open before Halloween. Victoria's family was brave enough to go with me.

And what a blast! Jacob, Sam, and Bianca are absolutely hilarious! Jacob and Sam are clearly embracing the big brother role. We planned months ahead so we could shoot on one of the only days there isn't a football game or practice. These guys take it seriously. And baby sister Bianca? She totally cracked up me and herself giving me these awesome grumpy faces!

They're just such sweet kids and dove into that maze like pros. If only the crazy photographer lady hadn't kept distracting them for pictures... ;)

Stephanie & Pete are getting married...

Stephanie & Pete's world is all about... Jesse & Tucker. Who are hilarious! I have never met dogs with more energy. Tucker actually runs on a treadmill. They were in everything and I can't imagine what their car must have smelled like on the way home. But we got some great shots!

(Oh, and Stephanie & Pete are getting married! Look out Allie's Cabin! Actually, the dogs are staying home. Congratulations!)

3 kids + 1 kitten = heaven!

I adore these kids. Taylor & Michael & Harley stole my heart years ago. And then they added Jack... just the most adorable little Persian kitten ever! How could we not have fun...

(And Jack, by the way, is named after the mouse in Cinderella. Little kids are so cool!)

Little girls...

... and their gorgeous mommy! How is it that moms never seem to know just how beautiful they are? In my humble opinion it's because they give their whole hearts to the little people in their charge and never even stop to notice. Sonya is just one of the nicest people I have ever known and if you look at the last photo you'll see where her darling girls, Lauren and Ashley, get their beautiful eyes and hearts.

Thank you for inviting me to come play!

Too much fun!!!

Hold on tight, this is a long one but worth it.

So everyone knows by now that I loooove wedding dresses. If I could I would get married again every year just so I could have another dress (and of course reaffirm my love and commitment to my darling man). The next best thing is more dresses and super cool brides to photograph in them. That said, here's the final installment from our Amarillo weekend...

Gentry and Kenzie are cousins and have been friends too since they were little girls. Gentry was even maid of honor in Kenzie's wedding earlier this year. To top off Gentry's wedding weekend we headed out to make once in a lifetime unbridal portraits with them after the wedding. Not only are these two gorgeous but they are rock stars for making it out to a shoot the morning after some serious post-wedding partying.

It was just the perfect day. Great locations, gorgeous gowns, and every German biker tourist in a two hundred mile radius. Apparently, Cadillac Ranch is a major stop on their US tour routes. We were prominently featured in what I'm sure will be some hilarious vacation video. I'm thinking that maybe I should be monitoring YouTube.

The best part of all of this is that Gentry now has the coolest ending to her virtual library of wedding weekend photos. I love that! And they have the perfect companion to their favorite childhood photo of the girls together.

Thank you both so much! This was incredible!

Gentry & Dave are getting married...

Wow! What a weekend! We were in balmy Amarillo, Texas for a rainy Friday and gorgeous Saturday wedding. After the most perfect drive ever through Colorado and New Mexico we rolled into Texas for family, friends, and a lot of photography. We discovered that Gentry is actually a distant relative and I can't think of anything cooler than being related to this super sweet family.

Friday started very early with Gentry & Dave's engagement portraits. They started innocent. Honest they did. They're just so in love and happy and, well, they turned into some of my favorite steamy photos. Trouble was we were in the church courtyard...

There were three more shoots while we were in Amarillo, including their beautiful ranch wedding and some unbelievably cool bridal portraits. Stay tuned for more...

Point & Shoot... beach style

At long last we took a weekend off! A few planes and cars later we joined dear friends in Rehoboth for a few days of serious R & R, incredible food, wine, and friends. And the opportunity to test a theory...

When I'm shooting I always have back ups for the back ups of my equipment. I believe you can never be too careful. But I also believe that a good photographer should be able to make some magic happen with nothing more than a pocket size point and shoot. I was hoping to prove that it is indeed your head (which has to know what that little camera can and can't do) and your heart (which leads you to beautiful moments that you want to keep forever) that make a great photo. It's not the equipment.

So after being just as lazy and happy with the gang on the beach as I possibly could, I gave in, picked up my itty bitty Nikon S5 and headed into the surf with the girls to see what we could make...

(I should also mention that I am seriously attached to these girls! Sayer's freckles stole my heart and Rosie had the energy of ten men! How she stayed in the water that long is a mystery to me. And they were kind enough to let me do puzzles with them, which is a quick way into my heart.)

The Sunflower Sessions...

The sunflowers are back! And I'm just too excited to stand it. They are just fabulous for portraits! The sunflowers are great for brides, engagements, families, high school seniors... Let your imagination roam!

So, in honor of the sunflowers being in bloom, I'm opening up two more last minute 'Sunflower Sessions.'

Update: The sunflower sessions are booked for this year. Tune in next summer for what promises to be an annual event...

Happy Birthday Ella!

I admit it. I've just been wanting sooo much to photograph Ella since the first time I met her. She's hilarious! I love it when babies crack themselves up. And I love how every portrait session has a vibe all it's own...

Happy Birthday Sasha!

Darling Sasha just turned one year old! After a heavenly cake that Natalia made and Sasha deconstructed, lots of presents, and lots of photos... we headed to the bathtub for a much needed clean up. I adore photographing babies in the bath. It's such a tender part of the bond between mother and child. And I love them in black and white. It just feels timeless...
