Oh how I loved Paris. Everything about the food, the wine, the people, just the feeling of the city was contagious. It's possible that my French may have even improved just a smidge over the course of the trip. But by far the highlight for me was photographing Alycia and Audrey in their incredible gowns from Amarildine.
We criss crossed the city in limos traveling from St. Michel à Bastille to the Opera House to the Trocadéro view of the Eiffel Tower. We had clouds, sun, rain... and we had the best time! Alycia and Audrey were fearless! I remain forever indebted to David and David for their boundless energy in helping us arrange this shoot.
Now I'm just plotting my return...
The spring/summer issue of Brides Colorado highlights Michelle & Philip's absolutely gorgeous mountain wedding. Would you believe they did all these incredible details themselves? If you've met Michelle it's really no surprise -- she has the energy of ten people! I was so excited to have the wedding chosen as a feature. And the editors even chose a darling photo of Michelle and Evie for the table of contents page...
It's official. I love photographing weddings so much that it has turned me into possibly the world's biggest sappy romantic ever! And I find it absolutely impossible to make short blog posts. There are just too many wonderful things.
Samantha & Andrew kindly invited me to Iowa in very, very chilly December to photograph their beautiful day together and I absolutely fell in love with them and their families. I have always said that the Midwest is like nowhere else. The incredible warmth and love with which these folks approach everything always gives me faith in humanity.
I felt like family while I was there... and what an amazing family. It felt like everyone came out of the woodwork (in their parkas and mittens) to celebrate with Samantha & Andrew. And the love pouring in around them shines in their smiles.
Congratulations! I wish you a lifetime of joy. Thank you for inviting me to be there to capture the beginning of your new family...
Wow. What a beautiful day! We really couldn't have asked for a more lovely Colorado afternoon to celebrate Amanda & Branden's wedding. Giggles and tears and just too much love of family to ever capture in just a few, but here are some of my favorites. And a wish for many, many years of love and joy!
Ceremony: Denver Colorado Temple
Reception: Columbine Country Club
I love getting to know the couples whose weddings I photograph. With every bride I meet we talk about how important your wedding photographer is. Not just because of the priceless opportunity to capture those memories, but because your wedding photographer is with you a lot over the course of your wedding day. It's impossible not to become close to the wonderful brides and grooms that I follow through their wedding.
I have been very fortunate to capture Kelsey & Scott's love story this year. Their unbridal session was the final piece of photography for them before their move to Oklahoma. As always, it was just magical to work with them and catch these beautiful moments of newlywed love...
I'll miss you! Oklahoma is soooo lucky to have you!
What could possibly be better than Saturday afternoon and bridal gowns? Lots and lots of bridal gowns!
I joined the wonderful women of Anna Be Bridal Boutique to photograph brides choosing their dresses and we just had the best time! The only thing better than a bride every Saturday is many brides in the same day. And their moms, friends, sisters, aunts, nieces... it was just too much fun. When the champagne started to flow I knew that I had found a new home.
A special thank you to Anna, Breanna, Jordan, and Kalli. And to all the wonderful brides I met. I won't share names or faces so it can all stay a big secret from the guys. You know who you are! Enjoy your super secret slideshows. Congratulations! And look for your dress below...
Oh where to begin!
I cried. And cried. I cried when I put together the photos and saw the one of Michelle's locket. It was like all the great movies... beautiful bride, handsome groom, amazing details, singing, dancing, laughter, tears! The lovely ceremony at the Wild Horse Inn, time for photos at Devil's Thumb Ranch, and the wine! Michelle & Philip did the details including a gorgeous stationary suite and they used their engagement photos on the labels of the wine that Philip makes. It was all just stunning.
But even more than that, I have been so incredibly touched by Michelle & Philip and the love they share with everyone around them. There just truly are not enough words to describe my gratitude at being invited in to photograph this love story. Thank you.
(And congratulations!!!)
What an amazing day! Li-Ming & Myke were so beautiful together and so in love. And talk about ambitious. They flew out from new York for the wedding and we photographed at the Hotel Boulderado, the Pearl Street mall, St. Thomas Aquinas, Chautauqua, and Pastures of Plenty. Whew! And it was so much fun! Li-Ming & Myke's enthusiasm and joy caught on with everyone we met. It was a beautiful way to join two lives together. (And the wonderful women from JA Special Events were amazing at keeping everything flowing. Thanks Andrea!)
Just a small snippet. There are so many photos from this wedding that I love....
Congratulations Li-Ming & Myke!
Hold on tight, this is a long one but worth it.
So everyone knows by now that I loooove wedding dresses. If I could I would get married again every year just so I could have another dress (and of course reaffirm my love and commitment to my darling man). The next best thing is more dresses and super cool brides to photograph in them. That said, here's the final installment from our Amarillo weekend...
Gentry and Kenzie are cousins and have been friends too since they were little girls. Gentry was even maid of honor in Kenzie's wedding earlier this year. To top off Gentry's wedding weekend we headed out to make once in a lifetime unbridal portraits with them after the wedding. Not only are these two gorgeous but they are rock stars for making it out to a shoot the morning after some serious post-wedding partying.
It was just the perfect day. Great locations, gorgeous gowns, and every German biker tourist in a two hundred mile radius. Apparently, Cadillac Ranch is a major stop on their US tour routes. We were prominently featured in what I'm sure will be some hilarious vacation video. I'm thinking that maybe I should be monitoring YouTube.
The best part of all of this is that Gentry now has the coolest ending to her virtual library of wedding weekend photos. I love that! And they have the perfect companion to their favorite childhood photo of the girls together.
Thank you both so much! This was incredible!
